Breweries and bars with great selection continue to pop up around the city, but a great NYC beer bottle shop is hard to find.
This became especially obvious while studying for the blind tasting portions of the Certified Cicerone and Advanced Cicerone. It’s an undertaking that requires a lot of beer. And not just any beer, but examples of traditional styles. That means no milkshake IPAs, no coffee in stouts, no dry hopping to finish an American wheat!
These straightforward examples are becoming harder and harder to find so I am very lucky that I have Carmine Street Beers just a short bike ride away.
This bottle shop and beer bar has been in West Village since 2013 and has always stocked a wide variety of beer from international classics to local favorites. My bike ride takes me along the water right passed the World Trade Center, so I thought I would bring you guys along with me this time.
At the end of the video I also share my beer haul I brought back from Carmine and why I picked those beers for my studying!
